Who is responsible for a funeral?
The immediate family of the deceased is responsible. They need to be aware if any prearrangements have been made.
What do funeral directors do?
Funeral directors are administrators, advisors, listeners, and supporters. They make the arrangements for transportation of the body, complete all needed paperwork and implement the choices made by the family regarding the funeral and final disposition of the body.

Viewing is part of tradition for many. It helps give support to the family members to show them that others care also. Most grief specialists feel that it helps the grieving process by making the bereaved recognize the reality of death.
What should I do if a death occurs in the middle of the night?
Call Kohut Funeral Home. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Someone will come right away if you choose, or you may wish to spend a short time with the deceased to say good-bye, depending on the circumstance. We will come when you tell us to.
