John J. Borrell, 84, of Nazareth, passed away March 23, 2025. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Charles Borrell and Dora L. (Simonelli) Borrell Thompson. John served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. He received the Parachuter’s Badge, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Gallantry Cross, and 3 Bronze Stars. He retired from Mack Trucks after 30 years of service. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his daughter- Tina Masuda and husband Michael of Santa Clara, CA.
Services will be Private for the family care of Kohut Funeral Home, Inc.

Helen D. Bogert
Helen D. (Brenkacs) Bogert, 91, peacefully passed away on Monday October 7, 2024. She was the loving wife of Andrew P. Bogert Jr. and was happily married for 48 years, prior to his passing in 2003. Born in Allentown, Helen was the daughter of the late John J. Sr. and Mary (Ference) Brenkacs. She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Allentown. For many years, Helen worked as a sewing machine operator for various clothing factories throughout the Lehigh Valley. Helen loved to play Bingo and adored her family, especially her grandchildren Craig, John and Mary. Surviving is her daughter: Diane wife of David Luksa. Brother: John J. Brenkacs Jr. Grandchildren: Craig Luksa and his wife Elizabeth, John Luksa and Mary Luksa. Helen was predeceased by her brother Robert F. Brenkacs. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00AM on Monday October 14, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Allentown. Calling Hours will be 9:00-10:30AM in the Kohut Funeral Home, in Allentown.
Catherine Brosky
Catherine “Aunt Kosh” A. Brosky, 98, of Allentown, passed away March 23, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Brosky. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Dest) Olsovsky. She was a member of the former St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church and a current member of St. John the Baptist Slovak Catholic Church. Catherine was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors: children- Joanne Fisher, Joseph Brosky, Richard Brosky and Jeffrey Brosky; grandchildren; great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 26th 9:30-10:30AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30AM all in St. John the Baptist Slovak Catholic Church 924 N. Front St. Allentown, PA 18102. Burial to follow in St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Whitehall.

Joseph Burcovsky
Joseph Burcovsky, of Bethlehem, passed away April 25, 2023. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Anthony and Anna (Krasulik) Burcovsky. He retired from Lehigh County in 1990 as an appraiser/assessor after over 20 years of service for the County of Lehigh. He was a member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Allentown.
He was predeceased by 2 sisters and 1 brother.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 3rd at 10AM in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church 1031 Fullerton Ave Allentown, PA 18102. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
Kathleen Benkovic
Kathleen Lucille (Kotran) Benkovic, 71, of Nazareth passed away November 28, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Geza Benkovic. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Genevieve (Seng) Kotran. She worked for many years as the Head Teller at the Fairgrounds Branch and retired as a Senior Administrator at the Allentown Wells Fargo Call Center. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Slovak Catholic Church and Holy Family Catholic Church. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and anyone with whom she shared that special Katy sparkle.
Survivors: daughters- Corina Kathleen Benkovic Cook and husband Peter Joseph of Nazareth, Krista Mary Benkovic Kuczynski and husband Edward of Bethlehem; grandson- Connor Cook; beloved Niece Nichole Benkovic Treiber and husband Donald; great nieces- Tylar Kathleen Treiber and Alexandra Treiber; brothers- Paul and Steve Kotran. She was the youngest of ten children and was predeceased by seven siblings. It is a comforting thought that the twins are absolutely deviling her, because that is Kate’s Heaven.
A calling time will be held on Monday, December 5th 6-8PM and Tuesday December 6th 9-10AM in Kohut Funeral Home, Inc. 950 N. Front St. Allentown, PA 18102. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30AM in St. John the Baptist Slovak Catholic Church 924 N. Front St. Allentown, PA 18102. Burial will be private. The family would like to cordially invite you to the Best Luncheon in Town after the Mass, downstairs in the Church Auditorium.
James Bittenbender
James P. Bittenbender, 78, of Germansville, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021. He was the loving husband of the late Rachel Bittenbender and then a loving companion to Edith Meixsell. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late George and Agnes (Novasak) Bittenbender. He proudly served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne Division, participating in the Vietnam Era and the Cuban Crisis. James graduated from Allentown Central Catholic in 1960 and attended La Salle University, Penn State University, Northampton Community College and the PP&L Apprentice Program. He retired from PP&L in 2001 as a Substation Foreman Electrical. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Slovak Catholic Church. James enjoyed the outdoors and his coonhounds.
Survivors: companion- Edith Meixsell; son- James Bittenbender and wife Michelle; daughter- Diane Ducharme and husband Alfred; sister- Judith Ensor and husband Charles; grandsons- James P. Bittenbender, Ben Ducharme, Luke Ducharme, Shaun Bittenbender, Austin Bittenbender; nieces- Andrea Ritter, Jane Ensor; nephews- Matt Bittenbender, Mike Ensor, Timothy Ensor. He was predeceased by his brother- George Bittenbender.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, January 6th 6-8PM and Thursday, January 7th 9:30-10:30AM with a Funeral Service at 10:30AM in Kohut Funeral Home, Inc. 950 N. Front St. Allentown, PA 18102. Burial to follow in Laurel Cemetery, Whitehall.

Loretta Brosky
Loretta M. Brosky, 71, of Allentown, passed away December 8, 2020. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mildred (Strain) Brosky. She was member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Loretta had worked as a programmer for Dun & Bradstreet for over 30 years. She also worked as an Avon Representative of many years. Loretta enjoyed doing needlepoint and crocheting. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Andrew Berish
Andrew T. Berish, 68, of Bethlehem, passed away October 5, 2020. He was the loving husband of 30 years to the late Rosemary N. (Candia) Berish. Born in Hazelton, he was the son of the late Andrew and Loretta (Stanovich) Berish. Andy served in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland. Andy had worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired as the Postmaster of Easton. He was a dedicated member of St. John the Baptist Slovak Catholic Church, where he enjoyed teaching CCD classes. Andy loved all of his dogs. He was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed spending time at his cabin and hunting.
Survivors: daughters- Mary Ann Rupp and husband Joel W. Rupp Sr., the late Denise Watro and husband Gregory; grandchildren- Tiffany Kushner, Joel Rupp Jr., Tyler Dornblaser, Stephanie Kutzler and Greg Watro; great grandchildren- Collin, Nyla, Joel III, Chace, Sierra, Nora and Athena; sister- Loretta Yuscavage and husband Charles; niece-Gina Romancheck and husband Brian; great nephew- Brian Romancheck and several cousins.
